About

The Living Lab @UWA is a project helping innovators test their products on industrial facilities and processes. The project makes available industrial facilties and processes at the University of Western Australia as a proving ground for innovators to bridge the gap from prototype to mine site trial.

In 2018 the SHL received a grant from the Australian Government’s METS Ignited Collaborative Project Fund for the Living Lab @UWA program. This is a collaboration between CORE Innovation Hub, the UWA Facilities Management group, and the SHL with support from the BHP Strategy and Innovation group to support startups to conduct product site trials at UWA as a critical step to a mine site trial. The trials are managed by students working in the SHL providing invaluable project management and technical experience.

Team

The Living Lab team will support the innovators to conduct trials of thier product. This team consists of Research Engineers currently undertaking Postgraduate coursework. The team is supported through mentorship and expertise provided by members of UWA, Core Innovation Hub, BHP and the community.

Innovators

It is difficult for Innovators to test new products in an industrial setting.

At the Living Lab, we aim to assist Innovators by providing an opportunity to trial their product, demonstrating adherence to safety, installation, commissioning and removal procedures. Our team will conduct the trial on UWA’s industrial grade infrastructure, as a pathway for derisking future deployment opportunities.

Are you an innovator seeking to trial in a real life setup?
